Recipe: Pasta with Marinara Sauce
Angel hair pasta
2 cans of diced tomatoes with basil
Olive oil (I use extra virgin olive oil.)
2 Italian sausages, mild
Garlic salt/powder
Basil
In a frying pan, heat about 2 tablespoons of olive oil. While olive oil is heating, cut the each Italian sausage into approximately 4-6 chunks. Brown these sausage chunks in the frying pan. Put a pot of water on the stove to boil. Once the sausage is browned and nearly cooked the entire way through, add the cans of diced tomatoes, more olive oil to taste, and some garlic salt/powder and basil to taste. Let this mixture cook on medium heat for a while until some of the liquid cooks off and the sausage is cooked completely. While the sauce is still cooking, add the pasta to the boiling water to cook. Once pasta is done, drain it, put it in a bowl, and drizzle a small amount of olive oil on it then mix so the pasta does not stick together. Serve pasta with the sauce on top.
We also usually make garlic bread with a loaf of Italian bread from the bakery at the grocery. Slice the bread and lay the pieces on a baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil, grated parmesan cheese, and garlic salt on the bread. Broil in over on hi for 1 or 2 minutes (be sure to watch it b/c I have burned the bread a number of times when I start to do something else and forget about it).
